Marking Transitions with Care and Creativity
Saints at St George’s School is a worshipping community focused on children in leadership and learning together through the creative arts. As the school year drew to a close and many in the community prepared for transition, we spent time reflecting on how we acknowledge and honour those moving on.
Together, we decided to create beaded friendship bracelets for the Year 6 leavers. Each bracelet included the letters “ST G” for St George, serving as a simple but meaningful reminder of their time at primary school and their place within the community.
At first glance, this could have seemed like just a fun end-of-year activity. In reality, it became something much deeper, a powerful act of service and care. The children approached it with thoughtfulness and intention, wanting each bracelet to be special. They were excited to give their gifts, recognising the importance of marking this moment for others.
This session became a beautiful expression of community: celebrating shared experiences, honouring transitions, and encouraging children to think beyond themselves. It was a simple idea, but one that carried real meaning and became a highlight of the year for everyone involved.
