At St John’s Walmley, a simple idea to connect with mums from our toddler group (Tiddlywinks) has blossomed into a much-loved annual event. Our Ladies’ Craft and Canapé Evening began in 2022 with just a few guests, but by 2024 it had sold out—filled almost entirely with Tiddlywinks mums and their friends and family.
Guests were welcomed with drinks and canapés before enjoying a relaxed evening of crafts, Christmas cookery demonstrations, and conversation. Each table was hosted by a volunteer, offering help and encouragement, while men from the church served food and drinks.
The evening closed with a short talk on the real meaning of Christmas, followed by a thoughtful take-home gift bag—complete with treats, a candle, and a short book. Many left deeply moved, with some even expressing interest in Alpha.
This growing event has been a joyful way to mark the season, offering creativity, community, and the hope of Christmas to those we know through Tiddlywinks.
