Diocesan Youth Weekend Away 2026

Diocesan Youth Weekend Away 2026

16th - 18th October 2026

In October 2025, 60 young people from parishes across Church of England Birmingham headed off together for an unforgettable weekend away.

The vision was simple: to provide young people, who might not normally have the opportunity, with a meaningful experience away from home. Some come from very small church groups; others face financial barriers that make residentials difficult, most were from a global majority heritage background. Thanks to generous funding from the Racial Justice Unit and the St Martin’s Trust, we were able to make this opportunity a reality.

And what a weekend it was! From night walks and silent discos to high ropes, campfires, and the expected lack of sleep, the young people made new friends, tried new activities, and created lasting memories. We also spent time exploring Jesus’ “I am” statements, worshipping together, and sharing communion on Sunday morning.

A couple of the young people reflected afterwards:

Question: Was there something that helped you think differently or feel closer to God?

“Being surrounded by other people who follow God.”

Question: What was one funny or memorable moment?

“I got to meet other people that I don’t know and make friends with them too.”

2026 Youth Weekend

We would love to see first-time groups join us this year — it’s a chance to give your young people an unforgettable experience, build confidence, and grow in faith together.

We will be heading to a venue that offers a variety of outdoor activities, including a high rope course, climbing, zip lines, campfires, and fabulous food.

Date: Friday 16th – Sunday 18th October 2026

Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for your young people!
